4 Akyem Kotoku chiefs swear oath to Omanhene

The Omanhene of Akyem Kotoku, Oseadeeyo Dr Frimpong Manso IV, has stressed the need for chiefs to strive to sustain the sterling qualities which convinced their kingmakers to nominate them and their subjects to overwhelmingly endorse them as traditional rulers.

He urged them to be humble, submissive, respectful, assiduous and treat all manner of people without discrimination.

Oseadeeyo Frimpong Manso made the call when four newly installed chiefs from the traditional area swore the oath of allegiance to him at his palace at Akyem Oda last Monday.

The new traditional rulers are the Chief of Nwinso, Baffour Yeboah Osei Hwedie II, known in private life as Yaw Yeboah and the Chief of Mamanso, Baffour Kofi Adarkwah Agyapong, also known as Kofi Adarkwah.

The rest are the Chief of Noyem, Nana Ayim Nketiah Mintah II, known in private life as Mike Ayim Mintah and the Chief of Akyem Akrofonso, Nana Boansi Mireku II, also known as Kofi Mireku.

Advice

Oseadeeyo Frimpong Manso advised the new chiefs to eschew land and chieftaincy disputes which divide the people and also retard progress.

He enjoined them to work hard to bring investors to the traditional area to revamp the local economy and to create jobs for the numerous unemployed youth in the area.

The omanhene urged them to use their influential positions to promote peace, unity and reconciliation, but not to harass or intimidate their subjects.

He wished them success in their administration and admonished them to work hard to help uplift their communities, the traditional area and Ghana in general.

The Krontihene of Akyem Kotoku, Obrempong Gyamfi Safo Kyere II, cautioned the new chiefs to refrain from chieftaincy disputes, which he stressed, had retarded the progress of the state for the past 27 years.

He urged them to use their wisdom, rich knowledge and wealth to help raise the quality of life of their people.

Sustain

The Nyafomanhene, Nana Ansah Sasraku, enjoined the new chiefs to help sustain the prevailing peace and unity in the traditional area.

The Nwinsohene, Baffour Osei Yeboah Hwedie, who is the Marketing Manager of IBM Petroleum, on behalf of his colleague chiefs, thanked the omanhene and the kingmakers for the honour done them.

He promised that they would live up to expectation and use their positions to assist in the transformation of Akyem Kotoku to an appreciable level.
