Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly launches clean environment drive
The Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly has launched a comprehensive clean-up drive to promote a clean, healthy environment for residents.
The initiative, which kicked off last Thursday, involved cleaning the frontages of residential, commercial and industrial premises, desilting drains and collecting waste and debris.
The clean-up operation started at Kyiriabosom and proceeded to the Mallam Market, which is part of efforts to eradicate filth in the municipality.
Officials, including the Municipal Chief Executive, Musa Kalamu Adamu and the Municipal Coordinating Director, Vera Akuffo Mante, were present at the Mallam Market exercise.
Speaking during the exercise, Mr Adamu urged residents to make maintaining their surroundings clean a top priority.
He cautioned them against indiscriminate dumping of refuse to ensure a clean environment in the municipality.
He stated that maintaining a clean environment was a collective responsibility and urged residents to support the assembly's initiative.
The primary objective of the initiative, he said, was to keep the municipality's principal streets clean at all times.
Mr Adamu also commended the market women for their cooperation with the municipality's directives and for taking sanitation seriously.
