Church supports Kpedze-Awlime B community with water system

The Maranatha Power Ministries International, which has its headquarters at Nungua in Accra, has built a water system for the Kpedze-Awlime B community in the Ho West District in the Volta Region, at a total cost of GH¢200,000.

The system, comprising two mechanised boreholes with 5,000-litre overhead reservoirs, was commissioned last Sunday amidst pomp and celebration in the farming community, which has a population of almost 5,000.

“This is in line with our commitment to serving humanity with compassion,” the Founder of the ministry, Bishop Francis Afotey Odai, said.

He said, helping communities to improve their lot was one way of expanding the ministry.

Bishop Odai said construction of the boreholes marked the beginning of a long bond of affection between the Maranatha Power Ministries International and Kpedze-Awlime B.

He assured that the ministry would continue to visit the community to explore other ways of helping the people to address their basic needs.

Bishop Odai maintained that the gospel was not only preached but also lived and demonstrated through love for one another.

“We must bring both living water to the soul and clean water to the body, to transform lives to the glory of God,” he added.

DCE

The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Ho West, Prosper Francis Dusey, commended the church for its immense contribution to the comfort of the people in the community, saying the gesture was overwhelming.

He said with clean water, the people would now spend more time on their livelihoods.

Mr Dusey urged the people in the community to handle the boreholes with utmost care, to ensure they served their purpose for many decades.

The Amedzrofia of Kpedze-Awlime B, Togbe Ewe I, said the boreholes were a huge source of relief and great joy in the community.

The water system became a reality following a recent request to the ministry for clean water, by the Sohefia (youth leader) of the community, Thomas Kudiabor.

The Assembly Member for the area, Kasim Osman Adamu, gave an assurance that there would be strict vigilance over the water system around the clock, to keep it functioning all the time.
