The newly inducted Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) at Nutekpor in the South Tongu District in the Volta Region, Commodore James Adongo Agambire, has pledged the command’s firm stance to support the socio-economic progress in the surrounding communities.
He therefore entreated the communities to live in peace and unity at all times and to take advantage of the security provided by NAVTRAC to improve their livelihoods and advance other development activities.
Commodore Agambire said this at his induction ceremony at the command last Sunday when he took over from Commodore Solomon Asiedu Larbi, who served in that capacity for about a year.
The event was on the theme: “Inspiring Excellence through Leadership and Team Synergy.”
Strategic location
The FOC said by its strategic location between the large water body and the communities around Nutekpor, NAVTRAC was not just a military installation, but also a pillar for national development and service to humanity.
He said since its establishment in October 2020, NAVTRAC had trained about 2,000 navy recruits as well as 400 army recruits.
He gave an assurance that the command was working in collaboration with other security agencies around the clock to ensure peace and that law and order prevailed in the area without compromise.
The Regional Minister, James Gunu, pledged that the Volta Regional Coordinating Council would support the command in various ways to perform its duties diligently.
The Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Maxwell Lukutor, said the location of NAVTRAC would definitely help to transform the human resource and economic potential of the area and help to build cordial ties between the military and civilians.
