Complete abandoned school projects in Zango communities - Volta Region council urges government

Members of the Volta Regional Council of Zango Chiefs last Wednesday introduced the newly inducted Volta Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Muniru Ali Mohamed, to the Regional Minister, James Gunu.

The introduction was done during a goodwill visit by the Zango chiefs to the Ho Residency.

During their interaction with the regional minister, the Secretary of the Volta Region Council of Zango Chiefs, Chief Ahmed Jabala Osman Bore, reaffirmed the commitment of the chiefs to serve diligently as custodians of social justice in the communities.

“When the government recognises and engages us in the leadership structures, it strengthens democracy and empowers us to work more effectively as partners in the noble task of nation building,” he added.

Chief Bore said several educational infrastructure projects in the Muslim communities remained incomplete in municipalities and districts across the region.

He, therefore, appealed to the regional minister to intervene and ensure the completion of those projects in good time.

In his response, Mr Gunu said this year’s government budget included a component dedicated to completing all abandoned educational projects, which would benefit the Zango communities as well.

He assured that the government recognised zango chiefs and would integrate their roles into the local government system.

Among the visiting delegation were zango chiefs from Hohoe, Kpando, Aflao, Denu and Ziope.
