Council 94 and Court 90, Adentan, of the Noble Order of Knights and Ladies of the Marshall, have made a cash donation to the Surgical Breast Cancer Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Accra.
It was to pay for the chemotherapy of breast cancer patients who are unable to pay for their treatments.
The donation formed part of activities marking the Pink October to raise awareness of breast cancer.
The delegation was led by the Grand Knight of Council 94, Brother Martin Tettey Nartey Junior and the Noble Lady of Court 90, Sister Gifty Maloe Nartey.
Making the presentation, Sister Nartey said as a Catholic-friendly and charitable society, the Marshallans were not only interested in the eternal salvation of people but also in their well-being.
She said the donation was to support the vulnerable undergoing chemotherapy but find it difficult to pay for the treatment.
She said society, therefore, found it prudent to alleviate their plight by giving the money to the unit to cover the cost of the treatment for those in need.
The Senior Nursing Officer in charge of the surgical oncology unit, Augusta Gening, who received the donation on behalf of the unit, was grateful to the Marshallans for the gesture, which she said would help put smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries.
She prayed that society would regularly aid the patients and would not make the donation one of one.
The delegation later toured the facility and interacted with some of the patients.
