E-Mort School Complex, Russian University partner for language training
The E-Mort School Complex has partnered the Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University of Russia to offer Russian language courses and promote cultural ties between the two countries.
The collaboration, which seeks to equip Ghanaian youth with skills to tap into global opportunities, represents a significant step in strengthening educational and cultural relations between Ghana and Russia.
Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony in Accra last Wednesday, during the opening of a two-day seminar on the theme: “How to Better Understand Russians”, the Founder of the E-Mort School Complex, Professor Alexander Kofi Preko, emphasised the importance of early language acquisition.
He noted that exposing Ghanaian children to foreign languages at a tender age positioned them favourably in an increasingly competitive global environment.
“Education remains education regardless of where one acquires it. What matters most is one’s ability to demonstrate that the knowledge gained has been brought back to benefit the nation,” Prof. Preko stated.
The Consular at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ghana, Natalia Muzhehennikova, stressed that media stereotypes had fostered negative perceptions about Russians, thereby discouraging some students from pursuing educational opportunities in Russia.
She emphasised the need for Ghanaians to familiarise themselves with the Russian language, culture and history as the surest path to understanding the Russian people.
She further noted that mutual cultural appreciation was fundamental to bilateral cooperation and Ghana’s continued progress.
For her part, the Deputy Head of the International Department at the Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University, Kravets Valeriia, disclosed that both institutions would undertake joint educational programmes, including the establishment of an open education centre dedicated to promoting Russian culture and language.
