Immigration Officer’s murder: Arrest warrant for 3rd suspect

The Police have requested an arrest warrant for a third suspect allegedly linked to the murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah, popularly known as Otumfuo.

Last Wednesday, the lead prosecutor for the case, Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana, making a case for the warrant before the Adabraka District Court, said that was necessary to facilitate the suspect’s arrest.

The prosecution explained that due to the pending warrant, the duplicate docket was yet to be forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for advice.

The court, presided over by Nana Abena Asoh Owusu-Omenyo, granted the request and adjourned the case to November 4, 2025.

Case

Following the adjournment, the suspects who have been in police custody since their arrest - Bright Aweh, also known as Highest Bright (first accused) and Thomas Zigah, the second accused – were remanded.

The two are standing trial for their alleged roles in the murder of Amoah, who went missing on July 3, 2025 after leaving home to meet Aweh at Ashongman Estates, near Accra.
Investigations revealed that the meeting followed WhatsApp exchanges involving images of cash purportedly to settle an outstanding debt.

Aweh claimed to have given Amoah an amount of GHC500,000 to pay off a debt and asked the latter to retain the balance, but inconsistencies in his account raised suspicions.

The first accused was initially charged with kidnapping but that was changed to murder following police discovery of blood-stained camouflage fabric and fufu pestle wrapped in a polythene bag at his residence.

Zigah, the second accused, was arrested later as part of the ongoing investigations.
