JUSAG suspends strike over salary arrears
The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has suspended its planned indefinite strike over the non-payment of salary arrears to staff of the Judicial Service.
The strike, which was scheduled to begin on Monday, January 19, 2026, was announced in protest against the delay in the payment of eight months’ salary arrears owed to members.
In a press release dated January 20, 2026, and signed by the National President of JUSAG, Samuel Xeotey Otu, said the decision to suspend the strike followed a response from the government to its demands.
The association said the suspension was to allow for the implementation of a payment plan proposed by the government.
It, therefore, directed the staff of the Judicial Service to resume their normal duties while the association monitors the progress of the implementation.
Background
JUSAG earlier announced plans to embark on an indefinite strike beginning Monday, January 19, 2026, over the non-payment of eight months’ salary arrears related to a delayed implementation of a 10 per cent base pay adjustment for 2025.
Following the announcement, the National Labour Commission (NLC) halted the planned strike and summoned both the Judicial Service and the Ministry of Finance to appear before it on January 21, 2026, to explain the status of the arrears.
