La Nkwantanang-Madina launches DRIP equipment
The La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region has launched the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) at Otinibi, near Abokobi, to improve the road network in the municipality.

The launch of the DRIP programme, which is intended for reshaping, spot improvement and grading, attracted many people from Otinibi, Damfa and other communities, who are eager to have their roads fixed before the end of the year.
In a brief address, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Jennifer Dede Adjabeng, who was represented by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Abene Kwesiwa Kyei, said the arrival of the DRIP equipment was a fortune for the municipality, especially the people of Damfa and its surrounding communities.
Deplorable roads
The MCE said the municipal assembly was concerned about the deplorable nature of the roads in the municipality and that called for the urgent need to bring the DRIP equipment to start work on the deplorable roads.
“The assembly, through our monitoring, is much aware of the deplorable nature of some of the roads in the municipality. The assembly is so concerned that management, together with the parliamentary candidate, will ensure that the deplorable roads are fixed to promote all kinds of activities within the areas in the municipality.
“The government in power is a listening government and will ensure that your community needs are surely met through the assembly and its collaborators before the year ends as is your heart’s desire,” Mr Adjabeng said.
The MCE advised all the citizenry in the municipality to be circumspect in their campaigns to ensure it was devoid of insults and personal attacks in the upcoming elections in December, adding, “We can all not be in the same party, but at the same time we are the same people and Ghanaians and not enemies”.
Morally right
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Madina, Robert Lamptey, said it was morally right for the citizens of the municipality to complain about the deplorable nature of the roads and that called for the urgent need for the DRIP equipment brought to Otinibi and its surrounding communities to work on the deplorable roads.

“Let me say emphatically that I totally agree with the concerned chiefs, drivers and many inhabitants who have just cause of complaining about the bad state of the trunk roads in their communities that are affecting their commercial, as well as economic activities.
“Let me assure you that with the arrival of the equipment, your cry and concerns will be a thing of the past,” Mr Lamptey said.
He said it became necessary to deploy the DRIP equipment to areas such as Otinibi, Ayi Mensah, Kweiman, Damfa and Addoteiman in view of the distress calls and legitimate concerns raised by the people in these communities due to the bad nature of their roads.
He thanked the people for their support and urged them to remain focused and hopeful that their challenge would soon be addressed to enhance connectivity and improve their socio-economic well-being.
Confidence
The Chief of Otinibi, Nii Adzei Kweidzamansah IV, on behalf of other chiefs in the municipality, lauded the assembly and the parliamentary candidate for listening to their cry and bringing the DRIP equipment to address their road network challenges.
Nii Adzei Kweidzamansah, however, advised the assembly and the parliamentary candidate to ensure they adhered to the plan of rehabilitating the deplorable roads, in order to maintain the confidence the people had in them.
