Murder of guards at Mpamso forest: 1 suspect nabbed

Oone of the suspected killers of two ADRAS timber concession guards at Mpamso Forest near Nsuhia in the Dormaa Central Municipality of the Bono Region has been arrested.

The 45-year-old motor mechanic, identified as Bashiru Kinda, is suspected of having murdered Sani Aliyu, 34, and Ibrahim Musa, 35, both security guards at the ADRAS timber concession, in an attack by suspected illegal chainsaw operators.

Suspect Kinda was arrested last Monday at a hideout at Diabaa in the municipality, following Police intelligence.

The arrest of the suspect, who is currently in the grip of the Bono Regional Police Command, was announced in a press statement signed by the Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah.

The statement said the police, after searching the suspect's room, retrieved an Automatic Bruni model 96 9mm K pistol loaded with three rounds of 7.65mm ammunition, four mobile phones, machetes, talismans, and other amulets.

It said efforts were underway to identify and arrest other persons who were involved in the murder incident, which occurred on October 26, 2025, to assist in the investigation.

On October 26, 2025, a 41-year-old Ibrahim Issah, who is a security guard at the ADRAS timber concession company, reported to the police that a group of people numbering about 200 and suspected to be illegal chainsaw operators attacked them at the concession site with guns and machetes.

During the attack, luck eluded the two when they were gunned down by their attackers.

The suspected illegal chainsaw operators also succeeded in burning a Toyota pickup with registration number GT 3079-17.

The police, upon receiving the information, proceeded to the timber concession and found the two dead bodies lying approximately 100 metres apart in a supine position.

The bodies were retrieved and taken to the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
