Police grab 10 kidnappers, land guards
The police have made 10 arrests in two separate cases — a suspected kidnapping in the Eastern Region and a violent confrontation involving alleged land guards in Accra.

A search conducted in the unregistered Acura 4×4 vehicle of the suspects revealed an unspecified sum of fake currency notes in GH¢100 and GH¢200 denominations, specimen paper cut into the size of currencies.
The police said they also discovered GH¢4,600 cash, a foreign pistol, a machete, a talisman and amulets.
The suspects are in custody, assisting with investigations, a police situational report said.
The victims were identified as Seidu Sambiane, 28, and Ibrahim Alhassan, 42, who have since been rescued.

The report said on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 3:20 p.m., the Nsawam District Police Command received information that two men from Accra heading towards Anyinam had been kidnapped by two men and sent to an unknown location.
"That the kidnappers were demanding a ransom of GH¢400,000 from the families of the victims before they released them.
"That the families of the victims negotiated with the kidnappers and they asked them to deposit GH¢5,000," the report explained.
On receiving the information, the report said the suspects were lured to a joint near the Suhum roundabout, where the five suspects were arrested with the assistance of the Suhum Police.
Land guards
In a related incident, the police arrested six armed land guards following a gun battle at Trasacco in Accra.
After the exchange of fire and the arrests, the police retrieved one AK-47 rifle with five rounds of ammunition, one Luger T9 rifle with five rounds of ammunition, and one Regard MC rifle loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition.
Four motorbikes were also intercepted.
The suspects, together with the exhibits, were taken to the Accra Regional Police Headquarters for detention and further investigation.
A police situational report said that at about 12:50 p.m. last Saturday, officers and personnel responded to a distress call, and upon reaching the scene, they saw a group of men numbering about 50 firing at workers.
It said the police returned fire at them and pursued them into a bush.
