Police grab 2 for robbery
The police in Accra have arrested two persons for robbery and carjacking at Mpatasie, near the St Anthony Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, who had escaped to Accra with the vehicle following the incident, are Issaka Jamal, 30, and Kwadwo Badu, 40. They were among a gang of four, with the remaining two on the run.
An unregistered Hyundai Tucson, GH¢5,900.00 cash, a customised number plate - Congo 1-24, as well as various documents and other personal effects were retrieved.
Information
A police report said that last Friday, November 7, 2025, the Criminal Investigations Department Headquarters intercepted information from the Bohyen District police regarding a robbery and carjacking incident that occurred the same day at Mpatasie, near St. Anthony Hospital.
It said that upon receiving the report, the unit command immediately activated its intelligence operations and gathered that the suspects had escaped from Kumasi and were heading towards Accra in the complainant’s unregistered Hyundai Tucson vehicle.
Enquiries
On Saturday, November 8, 2025, a team from the unit, while conducting further enquiries, spotted the said vehicle with four occupants along the Ofankor Barrier–St John’s stretch on the Accra–Nsawam Highway.
"The team swiftly intercepted the vehicle to effect the arrest of the suspects.
"However, sensing danger, the suspects attempted to flee with the car. Realising they had been surrounded, they abandoned the vehicle and tried to escape on foot. The team pursued and arrested two suspects, during which one sustained a gunshot wound and the other sustained minor injuries," it said.
Hospital
The report said both were rushed to the Police Hospital, where they are in stable condition and responding to treatment.
The police said efforts were currently underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Meanwhile, the police have offered a reward of GH¢ 1 million for information leading to the arrest of Mark Agingre for his alleged involvement in a series of murders in the Binduri District and nearby communities in the Upper East Region.
The suspect is wanted in connection with the murder of a man, his wife, and three children on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Incident
The incident left another child in critical condition and is currently on admission at the Bolgatanga Government Hospital.
A police report said Agingre was also suspected of killing an elderly man and his two children on October 27, 2025, at Binduri.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that he may be behind several other targeted killings.
"A reward of GH¢1,000,000.00 has been earmarked for anyone who can share relevant and credible information that will lead to the arrest of the suspect," it said.
The police urged anyone with credible information about his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station or call 191 or 18555 immediately.
"The police assure the public that every effort is being made to track down the suspect and bring him to justice," the report said.
