Walk the talk, embody Christ through charity - Women’s Fellowship urges nation

The President of the Trinity United Church Women’s Fellowship, Dr Patience Enim Hughes, has urged Christians to demonstrate the love of Christ through practical acts of kindness and compassion, especially towards the less privileged in society.

She said faith without deeds was incomplete and true discipleship was shown when believers extend God’s blessings to others, uplifting the marginalised and reflecting Christ’s love through genuine service and compassion.

She made the call when the fellowship donated assorted items, including learning materials, cleaning supplies and beverages to the New Horizons Special School in Accra.

Items presented included educational materials such as colouring books, pencils and drawing sets, as well as cleaning and sanitary products, toys and fizzy drinks.

Dr Mrs Hughes said the gesture formed part of the fellowship’s mission to nurture spiritual maturity through effective discipleship and service, anchored on the year’s theme, “Maturing as a Christian through Effective Discipleship.”

“As Christians, we are called to walk the talk by showing love and embodying Christ in our daily lives. Giving to the marginalised is a way of continuing the mission our forebearers began — a mission grounded in love and compassion,” she stated.

She described the beneficiaries — children and adults living with challenges — as “marginalised but not forgotten,” adding that the donation was meant to assure them that they are loved and remembered by society.

“Acts of kindness remind them that someone, somewhere, is praying with them.

We give not because we have much, but because God has blessed us to be a blessing,” Dr Hughes added.

She further encouraged Ghanaians to “build on God’s blessings” by reaching out to the needy, saying such acts of charity are the true embodiment of Christian maturity and discipleship.

Gratitude

The Deputy Principal of the New Horizons Special School, Jocelyn Adoboe, who received the items on behalf of the institution, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Trinity United Church Women’s Fellowship for their act of kindness.

She said the school was deeply touched and overwhelmed by the gesture, which would go a long way to support their teaching and vocational training activities.

Ms Adoboe noted that although the school boasts excellent facilities, it still needed support to purchase raw materials for its craft and workshop units.

She encouraged others to emulate the fellowship’s generosity and invited the public to their exhibition on November 15.
