
Former National Service deputy boss Gifty Oware pleads not guilty, granted GH¢10million bail
A former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Gifty Oware Mensah, who has been accused of causing financial loss of more than GH¢38 million to the state, has denied all the charges leveled against her.
During her first appearance at the Accra High Court on Wednesday [Oct 22, 2025], she pleaded not guilty to five counts of willfully causing financial loss to the state, stealing, money laundering and using public office for profit.
Mrs Oware Mensah is accused of generating about 9,934 non existent national service personnel, and profiting from the allowances of the ghost names.
Bail
Following an application for bail by his lawyer, Nanabayin Ackon, the court granted the accused person bail in the sum of GH¢10million, with three sureties, two of which must be justified.
As part of the bail conditions, the court further ordered her to deposit her passports with the court registry and report to the police on the first Tuesday and Thursday of every month.
