Graphic will project story of Palestine
The management of Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) has pledged to offer its platform to the people of Palestine to make their voices and plight heard by the outside world.
Such a platform, the company said, would enable oppressed Palestinians to tell their stories in an authentic manner.
The Managing Director(MD) of the GCGL, Mr Ken Ashigbey, gave the assurance when the new Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ghana, Mr Abdulfatah A. K. Alstattari, called on him in Accra last Monday.
The visit was for the Ambassador to acquaint himself with the company’ s operations and see how best to foster a closer working relationship.
Biased media
Mr Ashigbey said most of the time, the oppression and suppression of Palestinians were told by the media from the perspective of the West.
“Until Al Jazeera came in and began to tell different stories of the Palestinian, the plights of the people were told from the perspective of the West,” he stated.
The MD gave an assurance that the GCGL was committed to making available its various newspapers to ensure constructive interactions between the Palestine Embassy and the company.
The Editor of the Daily Graphic, Mr Ransford Tetteh, said he was hopeful that the Palestine Embassy would explain issues affecting the people of Palestine for Ghanaians to appreciate them.
Appreciation for support
Ambassador Alstattari expressed appreciation about the important roles being played by Ghanaian women in all spheres of the economy, saying that “I have travelled to many places but nowhere have I seen such a thing”.
“It is inspiring and unique to see women being encouraged to play their roles in the economy and I am proud to be associated with Ghana,” he said.
He said he was appreciative of the support the people of Palestine had received from Ghana over the years and pledged to use his term in office to build on the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.
“I hope as an Ambassador to consolidate the ties between Ghana and Palestine,” he said, adding that there were many Palestinian investors in various sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
Love to the world
He stated that the people of Palestine had been going through suffering and oppression but such abuse of our rights “will not stop us from extending our love to the world”.
Mr Alstattari prayed that Ghana and the rest of the world, would work towards peace and stability so that “wars and bloodshed would be a thing of the past”.
