The money was donated to support the expansion of the hospital’s X-ray unit and also facilitate the establishment of a laundry unit.

The General Manager of the bank, Mr Noble Kwabena Agyei-Poku, who presented the money, said the support was in response to a request made to the bank by the management of the hospital.

He said even though the donation was  part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility, it would continue to support developments in the hospital and in its operational area by giving to the society a portion of its profit.

He said two years ago, the bank supported the hospital with 100 bags of cement and was currently financing the construction of an X-ray unit at the Juaben Government Hospital at an estimated cost of GH¢130,000.

According to Mr Agyei-Poku, considering the interest the bank had in education, it was spending GH¢500,000 to support over 120 brilliant, needy students in various second cycle and tertiary institutions in the country.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Frederick Osei-Wusu, who received the donation on behalf of the hospital, commended the bank for its regular support, which enabled the medical facility to go about its operations with minimal difficulties.

He, however, urged other public-spirited organisations to complement the efforts of the government by assisting hospitals with their basic needs.
