Malik Basintale appointed Acting CEO of Youth Employment Agency
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).
The announcement follows the resignation of Kofi Baah Agyepong, the outgoing CEO, who resigned, citing personal commitments and aspirations.
Mr. Basintale, a dynamic figure in Ghanaian politics and one of the most prominent voices during last year’s December 7 Presidential Election campaign, will officially assume his new role on Monday, January 27, 2025.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mr Basintale expressed his gratitude to President Mahama, tweeting: "Thank you, Mr President, H.E John D. Mahama. We shall not fail you❤️🙏🏽🇬🇭".
Kofi Baah Agyepong steps down after two years at YEA
Kofi Baah Agyepong, who has led the Youth Employment Agency for the past two years, announced his resignation in a letter to President Mahama. He described his tenure as "an honour and a privilege" and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to reducing youth unemployment in Ghana.
Mr Agyepong’s resignation adds to a string of recent departures among leaders of state-owned agencies and institutions in the aftermath of the December 7 Presidential Election.
Notable figures who have resigned include Akwasi Agyemang, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority; Sammi Awuku, former CEO of the National Lottery Authority; and Julie Essiam, who stepped down as Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
