The Chorkor Fish Processors Traders Association made up of four groups also received a cheque for GH¢65,000.
Empowerment
Speaking at the presentation ceremonies, the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of MASLOC, Mrs Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, observed that sustainable national development could not be achieved with women at the periphery of the development process.
That, she explained, was why the government, through MASLOC, was economically empowering women in the informal economy by accelerating credit to them at low interest of two per cent.
Poverty reduction
Mrs Attionu said the financial support was in line with the government’s efforts to reduce poverty and empower Ghanaian women in their respective communities across the country to enable them to stand on their feet.
She asked the women to make good use of the loans so they could repay on time for others to also benefit.
Mrs Attionu said the government would continue to do everything to empower women.
She reiterated that MASLOC monies were not for free, adding that funds were limited and, therefore, all women could not be served at the same time.
The Head of Operations of MASLOC, Mr Daniel Axim, said beneficiaries of the facility went through an assessment procedure before they were considered.
