Akufo-Addo right in calling front-line politicians hypocrites - Baako

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako Jnr has seconded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s description of some front-line politicians who had kicked against the 2018 Defence Co-operation Agreement between Ghana and the U.S as hypocrites.

President Akufo-Addo during a national address on the agreement on Thursday condemned what he said was the “unspeakable hypocrisy of the fraternity of some front-line politicians, who make a habit of running with the hares and hunting with the hounds, who secretly wallow in the largesse of the United States of America, whilst, at the same time, promote anti-American sentiments to a populist constituency.”

Speaking on Joy FM’s news analysis programme, Newsfile on Saturday, Mr Baako said the front-line politicians were “hypocrites of the highest order”.

“The ‘fraternity of front-line politicians’ that is where the focus is. When you have a fraternity of front-line politicians out there, telling you that this 2018 agreement will create room for the introduction of nuclear bombs, the introduction of biological bombs into this country, the introduction of homosexuality into this country”

“If you have these people, who are experienced, who have been in government, who have signed similar agreements out there pushing that line and telling the world that look here there are secret armed …who are they? Hypocrites of the highest order” he said.

He said the President's response was an "adequate and immediate response" to these 'front-line politicians'.

He further stated that the deal was not in secret, adding that it was sent to Parliament two weeks before it came out.
