The newly constituted Governing Board of the National Service Authority (NSA) has been inaugurated at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment in Accra.
Chaired by Emmanuel Okai Mintah, the 15-member board includes representatives from key ministries, agencies, and the private sector. Among the members are Dr. James Asare Adjei (Association of Ghana Industries), Felix Gyamfi (Director-General, NSA), Cecilia Sheitu Nyadia (Ministry of Technology and Innovation), Colonel Frederick Aboagye Kasapa (Ministry of Defence), and Dr. Wisdom Atiwoto (Ministry of Health).
Other members are Emma Ofori Agyemang (Ministry of Youth Development), Kwabena Denkyira (Ministry of Local Government), Paul Siamen (Ministry of Food and Agriculture), Shadrack Mensah (Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations), Matilda Azumah (Ministry of Education), and Andy Amuaku (President, NASPA). Presidential nominees Henrietta Asante and Elorm Goh are also on the board.
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare-Addo, urged the board to uphold innovation, efficiency, and transparency.
He emphasised the need to tackle longstanding issues such as ghost names on the service payroll and to create systems that equip personnel with relevant skills for the modern job market.
The president, he said, envisions a National Service structure that molds disciplined, patriotic, and service-minded graduates.
In his remarks, Board Chair, Mr Mintah, thanked the president for the trust placed in the board and pledged to work towards transforming the NSA into a world-class institution delivering impactful national service.
Director-General of NSA, Felix Gyamfi, expressed optimism about the board’s ability to bring renewed energy and direction to enhance the Authority’s operations and overall effectiveness.
