President Dramani Mahama will address a parade at the Black Star Square in Accra while similar parades will be held in all regional capitals and districts across the country.

This year’s independence day celebrations will be on the theme, “Building a Better and Prosperous Ghana through patriotism and National Unity”.

The declaration of independence on March 6 is significant in a number of ways as it was on the same day on which the Bond of 1844 was signed.

It also officially liberated the chiefs and people of the Gold Coast from the legal effects of the bond.
