The World Bank is providing a credit of $100 million, while USAID is committing a grant of $45 million towards the project.

The National Coordinator of the GCAP of the Ministry of  Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Mr Alabi Bortey, made this known at a validation workshop at Dodowa.

The workshop was organised to discuss the draft final report on the model land lease agreement designed to harmonise the relationship between investors and landowners in the catchment areas of the project.

It provided a platform for stakeholders, including some investors and landowners, to contribute to the development of the model lease agreement which will guide all agreements on land use.

The model land lease agreement is to proactively address the specific challenges that investors, landowners and affected communities often encounter during commercial agricultural land transactions in the country.

The GCAP is designed to encourage commercial agriculture, particularly in the Accra Plains and the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) zone.

Mr Bortey said to guide both investors and landowners on future negotiations, the GCAP commissioned a team to advise it on different models for participants,  guidelines and templates.

According to him, the lease agreement would ensure that all stakeholders, including investors, the community and landowners, benefited from any agricultural investment.
