The 2025 Ghana Garden and Flower Show received high-level endorsement on Wednesday, September 24, when Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang toured the exhibition grounds at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra.
The Vice President interacted with exhibitors, entrepreneurs, and young innovators, praising their creativity and dedication in advancing sustainability and promoting Made-in-Ghana solutions. She highlighted the exhibition as an example of how innovation, particularly among the youth, could drive national progress.
“It is deeply impressive to see the wealth of talent and innovation among our youth, and the many Made-in-Ghana products on display here. The plants, the greenery, and various floriculture products are not just inspiring; they are essential to our national vision for sustainable growth,” she remarked.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang stressed that the Show’s contributions extended beyond showcasing horticulture.
She noted that it aligned with Ghana’s broader development agenda by supporting entrepreneurship, encouraging sustainable urban development, and unlocking opportunities in the green economy.
Her comments underscored this year’s theme, “Urban Places, Green Spaces,” which promotes integrating greenery into cityscapes to boost health, climate resilience, and national competitiveness.
Speaking after the visit, the Chief Executive Officer of Stratcomm Africa and convener of the Ghana Garden and Flower Movement, Ms Esther A. N. Cobbah described the Vice President’s presence as a major endorsement.
“Her Excellency’s visit is a powerful validation of the relevance of this Movement. The Ghana Garden and Flower Show is not just about plants and flowers: it is about inspiring behaviour change, driving innovation, and contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic transformation,” she said.
The 13th edition of the show, which began on September, runs until Sunday, September 28, 2025. It features exhibitions, masterclasses, the Green to Riches Youth Conference, and networking sessions. The closing ceremony will be headlined by renowned Nigerian architect Olayiwola Papa Omotayo, who will speak on the benefits of greenery in urban built environments.
Launched in 2013 by Stratcomm Africa, the Ghana Garden and Flower Show has become a flagship initiative promoting environmental sustainability, youth entrepreneurship, and green innovation. It has grown from 14 exhibitors and 1,400 visitors to now attracting more than 100 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors annually.
