Bawumia engages traders on campaign in Accra markets
Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, received a resounding welcome on his campaign tour through Accra’s bustling markets, where he was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from traders.
The reception comes fresh on the heels of his recent campaign stops in the Volta and Oti Regions.

Kicking off at the Mamprobi Tuesday Market in the Ablekuma South Constituency, Dr. Bawumia greeted hundreds of traders before moving on to the vibrant market hub of the Odododiodoo Constituency.
He continued to major city markets, including Makola, Okaishie, and Kantamanto, where traders welcomed him with open arms, embracing his “it is possible” slogan with cheers, dances, and even hugs.
In every market he visited, Dr. Bawumia encountered traders who expressed deep appreciation for the NPP’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, an initiative they credited with transforming their families’ lives by making education accessible.
“We used to sell our family treasures just to sponsor one or two of our children’s education,” shared a trader at Mamprobi. “But under the NPP, that has stopped, and everyone goes to school for free. We want it to continue, so it is Bawumia all the way.”
Another trader at Okaishie Market recalled how the policy had changed the educational outlook for her children. “Two of my children could not go to secondary school because I did not have money. It was sad because they were brilliant. But the two after them have all been to secondary school for free, and one is now at the university,” she said.
Throughout his tour, Dr. Bawumia engaged directly with traders, listening to their stories and acknowledging their hopes for a continuation of the Free SHS program. He expressed gratitude for their support, reiterating his commitment to building on policies that uplift Ghana’s families and pave the way for educational opportunities.
