CPP begins regional conferences; Retains executives in Upper West
The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has begun its regional conferences, which will culminate in the organisation of the party’s national delegates congress to elect national leaders to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

It will also prepare the CPP towards the 2016 general election.
Regional executives
The CPP branch in Upper West Region began the process in Wa, the regional capital, where the regional executive of the party were retained during their delegates’ conference on Saturday.
The executive members are: Mr Eiyasu Yussif Baba, a businessman, Chairman, and Mr Seidu Mogtare, the First Vice- Chairman.
The other officers are: Alhaji Yussif Lamin, the Second Vice Chairman; Mr Suleman Issahque, Secretary, Mr Yakub Ahmed Hambal Vice-Secretary and Mr Francis Baaladong the Organiser. The rest are: Mr Jargu Issaque Sanda Education Secretary, Mr David Deribaa Treasurer, Madam Elizabeth Muanaa, Women’s Organiser, Madam Elizabeth Munaawura Kende, Youth Organiser, Mr Yahaya Mashood Deputy Organiser, Mr Musah Minawara, Deputy Organiser and Mr Latif Haruna Deputy Youth Organiser.
The executive were sworn in by the National Chairperson of the CPP, Ms Yabaa Nkrumah.
Delegates
The 121 party delegates declared their preparedness to work to win the confidence of the electorate in their bid to wrest power from the National Democratic Congress in 2016.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Baba expressed his gratitude to the delegates for the trust reposed in him and the other executive members to work tirelessly with them to ensure victory, come 2016.

He called on them to see themselves as members of the same family who would sit down to resolve any misunderstanding amicably.
He gave the assurance that they had finished with the executive elections so it was time to build a formidable force at the grass-roots level.
He charged members of the party to start serious campaigns to prepare the way for victory in the general election.
Dr Foster Abu Sakara, the 2012 Presidential Candidate of the party, advised the delegates to remain focused and unite to win more seats in the region in 2016.
This, he said, would be in the form of educating the people on the need for change and what the CPP had to offer the country if given the mandate.
In addition, he said, they would organise peaceful demonstrations to draw the government’s attention to some of the corrupt practices that were depriving the people of their basic social amenities and infrastructural facilities.
Mr Kobina Ivon Greenstreet, the party’s General Secretary, reminded party members that every child had the right to free education up to the senior high school level.
He said that the party had pragmatic programmes for the achievement of that goal.
He, therefore, called on Ghanaians to give the CPP a chance since the two leading political parties, the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), had disappointed Ghanaians .
Cell Organisation
Earlier in the region, the event began on Friday with visits by the party to traditional leaders and to various places of interest led by the National Chairperson and Leader, Ms Samia Yaba Nkrumah, calling on the Nandom Naa.
A second team, led by Dr Sakara, attended a public lecture at the Nusrat Jahan College of Education and called on the Wa Naa and Yere Naa. Dr Sakara, also granted interviews on various radio stations in the city where he asked the electorate to give the CPP the opportunity to change the country into a land of opportunities for all.
Last Saturday, Professor Delle, a former National Chairman of CPP, together with Dr Sakara, formally welcomed the National Chair, Ms Samia Nkrumah, the CPP General Secretary, Mr Greenstreet; National Women’s Organiser, Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim and other national party figures in a convoy to the congress grounds at the GNATS Hall.
