Let’s focus on removing Mahama not Afoko, Agyepong — Sammy Crabbe
The New Patriotic Party's (NPP’s) Second Vice-Chairman, Mr Sammy Crabbe, has questioned the locus of the party’s council of elders to recommend sanctions against the party’s National Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko, and General Secretary, Mr Kwabena Agyepong.
“I don’t see any part of the constitution that says one of the duties of the council of elders is to recommend the suspension or disciplining of a national officer” he pointed out.
The two party leaders have been accused of undermining the flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo’s bid to win the 2016 presidential election.
But Sammy Crabbe in an interview with Joy FM described the move to oust the two as “unfortunate” and “sad”.
In his political life as an NPP member, Mr Crabbe said he has “never seen anything like this” level of party in-fighting.
“People should rather focus their energies when they wake up every morning in removing Mahama and not removing the General Secretary” he advised schemers.
