NDC MPs have planned to ignore summons to return to Parliament - Nii Lante Vanderpuye
The Member of Parliament for Odododiodioo, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye says he and majority of his colleagues from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Parliament have planned to ignore any summons to return to Parliament.
Reacting to the Supreme Court's ruling that said the Speaker of Parliament's declaration of four seats were unconstitutional, Mr Vanderpuye said the ruling was “misguided” and dismissive of what he claims is a clear-cut constitutional issue.

Majority of NDC MPs are therefore taking a defiant stance against that ruling by the Supreme, he said in an interview with Accra based TV3 on Tuesday [Nov 13].
The Supreme Court, in a 5-2 majority decision on Tuesday ruled that Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four seats vacant was unconstitutional.
The ruling followed a legal challenge by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader in Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) side.
In the TV3 interview Nii Lante Vanderpuye said “the ruling is regrettable and unnecessary, as any sixth-grade student could understand that this issue doesn’t require complex interpretation,”
