NPP youth asked to uphold principles of sacrifice, service
The youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been urged to chart a new course by upholding the principles of sacrifice, service and selflessness in their quest to build the party for the future.
These tenets, according to the Executive Director of the Dankwa Institute (DI), Dr Kingsley Nyarko, would help groom and prepare them as the foundation of the party for future leadership positions.
“Making a lot of sacrifices today will help build a better NPP for the future and as the youth of our political party, let us labour today by selflessly serving the party through the spirit of voluntarism,” he stressed.

Dr Nyarko gave the advice when he presented a paper on the topic: “Examining the ideology of the NPP” at a youth leadership training programme organised by the Dankwa Institute for the leadership of the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) drawn from the various tertiary institutions in Accra yesterday.
It was on the theme: “Preparing the NPP youth for effective leadership roles.”
Touching on the ideology of the NPP, Dr Nyarko explained that it was not only to attain specific goals but to advance the cause of societal development and progress.
To that end, he said the NPP always encouraged private businesses and gave them the opportunity to flourish.
“That is why we believe in property-owning democracy. This is not about owning property as the NDC diabolically wants Ghanaians to believe, but to give individuals the opportunity to flourish,” he stated.
Centre right party
Describing the NPP as a centre-right or moderate-right party, Dr Nyarko said: “We believe in freedom of the individual, freedom to belong to any legitimate association, as well as freedom of speech with responsibility.

He also advised the youth to do away with intemperate language in their everyday discourse, stating: “The use of abusive language was not part of the party’s tradition.”
The Dankwa Institute’s executive director further stated that the NPP had policies and programmes to make all Ghanaians prosperous; and urged TESCON to be more proactive by propagating the policies and works of the government aside from their usual handover and orientation ceremonies at their respective campuses.
A former Minister of Trade under President Kufuor’s tenure, Madam Gifty Ohene Konadu, in a brief remark called on all NPP youth to emulate the demeanour and diplomacy of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in all their deliberations.
That, she said, was because being diplomatic was the only way they could entice and win people to join the party.
