Emmanuel Lomotey joins Amiens in French Ligue 2

Relegated French Ligue 1 side, Amiens SC, have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian midfielder, Emmanuel Lomotey.

The 22-year-old central midfielder joined the fold of the "Unicorns" from Spanish side Extremadura on a four-year deal.

”Amiens SC is very happy to announce the signing of Emmanuel Lomotey,” the club announced.

“The 22-year-old Ghanaian U-23 defensive midfielder is linked with the club until 2024,” an official statement from the French side read on Monday afternoon.

Lomotey was one of the key players for Extremadura last season, making 21 league appearances and scoring one goal despite the club's inability to survive the Spanish second-tier.

He was courted by several teams, including Metz, Fehervar, Braga, Albacete and Amiens, but it was only the latter which could meet his 500,000 Euros buy-out clause.

Lomotey previously played for Dreams FC before joining Extremadura in the summer of 2017.

He featured for the second team of Villarreal on loan during the 2018-2019 season before returning to Extremadura for the just-ended campaign.

He has so far featured for the Black Satellites, Black Meteors and the Black Stars B.
