Indonesian Liga 1 club, Persib Bandung are cashing-in on replica jerseys of former Ghana and Chelsea star Michael Essien in an attempt to recoup the 800,000 euros they will repay him over the course of his one-year contract.

The Jakarta Globe reports that the recent signing of Essien, 34, has sparked a high demand in Persib jerseys.

CAF admits Zanzibar as a new member

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has admitted a new member into its fold - Zanbibar, at the continent’s 55th General Assembly on Thursday, March 16.

Zanzibar, becomes the 55th member of CAF and has also attained the membership of Federation of International Football Association (FIFA).

Their admission was by popular acclamation, by the mebership of the General Assembly.

The wife of Ghanaian football star Michael Essien, Mrs Akosua Puni has bought Italian third division Lega Pro side Calcio Como.

Mrs Puni Essien, a British citizen of Ghanaian origin bought the club for €237,000 at a bankruptcy auction held by FC Como Limited. The figure was €10,000 more than the starting price.
