GHANSU for Brazil by sea - Appeals for govt aid
The president of the Ghana National Supporters Union (GHANSU), Abraham Boakye, alias “One -Man Supporter”, says plans are far advanced to transport over 2,000 Ghanaians to Brazil by ship.
According to him, sea transport is the safest and most reliable means of transporting soccer fans to support the Black Stars in Brazil.
“It is the only plausible solution now, with government warning of lack of funds to transports fans to Brazil”, he stated.
Boakye told the Graphic Sports last Friday in Accra that he was in talks with a German Cruise Liner Agency to acquire a vessel with a built-in hotel that would accommodate the fans as well as transport them to the Stars’ match venues.
“The Stars will play the USA in Natat, which is along the Brazillian coast just as the city of Fortaleza where the Ghanaians face Germany in their second group game.
This also makes sea transport alternative a very effective and far less expensive option for the supporters”, he stated.
Comparing air transportation with that of sea Boakye contended that the latter was moderate and considering the large number of fans desirous of making the journey to Brazil, the sea was more preferable.
He, therefore, appealed to government for support in GHANSU’s bid to acquire the vessel.
