Samuel Osei Kuffour

Kuffour to take over Kotoko?

After weeks of lobbying for the top job, it has emerged that Samuel Osei Kuffour is in pole position to land the most envious and sought after job in the country.

The former Bayern Munich and Ghana international defender is set to be announced as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Porcupine Warriors next week.

The most intriguing aspect of the whole arrangement is the fact that Kuffour is also a member of the board of directors which supervises the supposedly failed Opoku Nti administration.

Currently, there are rumours flying around in Kumasi that Kuffour’s mother was spotted at different times at the Manhyia Palace to lobby strongly for her son.

The latest development has given credence to a report in the September 23-24 edition of the Graphic Sports where an alleged ‘rebel’ group led by Dr Kwaku Frimpong was pulling strings from the background to impose a new leadership on the club.

Key personalities being considered for the new leadership included Kuffour as the CEO, Dr Frimpong as the board chairman, Danish scout, Thomas Moller Nielsen as the club’s new technical director and former Ghana international, Mahammed Gargo, as the assistant coach.

This week Nielsen was reported to have confirmed his position to goal.com about taking over as the new manager of the Porcupine Warriors which has further deepen the certainty of the eminent disbandment of the current administration.
