Ghana's former national, West Africa and WBA Pan African champion, Delali Miledzi, heads to Austria next month for a mission of redemption as he bids to end a winless run abroad.
Miledzi is scheduled to battle Austria's undefeated IBF international super middleweight champion, Edin Avdic, in a 10-round international super middleweight contest in Uderns, Tyrol, on September 12.
Having suffered all three of his career defeats in foreign rings in a professional run that has brought 31 wins and a draw, with 24 KOs, the now 34-year-old Ghanaian insists the time is right to end his winless streak abroad.
He is keen to cement his legacy with a victory that is sure to position him for a possible title shot next.
Avdic, 30 years, has won all 16 career fights since his debut in 2021, with 11 knockouts, and is coming off a spectacular round one stoppage of previously undefeated Juan Narvaez of Colombia last June.
Avdic is also on a seven-fight knockout streak since June 2024.
Victorious ending
Miledzi, however, remains steadfast in belief that this trip abroad will have a triumphant ending, one that he is keen to ensure brightens his world championship dreams.
The Ghanaian boxer, who made his debut in June 2017 and is managed by Anthony Kermah of Landmark Promotions, suffered his first career loss in a bid for the WBO Africa super middleweight title to Namibia's Paulinus Ndjolonimu in Windhoek in 2022.
Further defeats came against Ali Akhmedov in Kazakhstan last December as well as to Milorad Zizic in a bid for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Super Middleweight title in Montenegro in May this year.
"He is a good boxer with a good record, but he's never faced anyone in my class. I trust in the preparations and strategy of my coaches; I'm very confident to take him down," Miledzi told the Daily Graphic at training last Wednesday.
"I promise Ghanaians to expect the best from me; I'm surely going to get the win here and move on to bigger things. I urge the fans to remember me in their prayers and keep supporting me; the best is still to come," he said.
