The team which accomplished that feat 22 years ago were recognised alongside over 30 colts football stakeholders, including administrators, colts clubs and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The organisers of the event, Passion For Mission (PFM) Media Network and La-Danso Addo Foundation, said the awards ceremony was held not only to “recognise and reward pioneers of colts football and players but also to serve as the starting point of reviving the dwindling fortunes of colts football”.

The CEO of PFM Media Network, Rev Adjei Addo, also promised that his organisation would work together with the GFA to partner television stations to telecast colts matches to help attract more fans.

“We intend to organise this awards to reward those who have trained players not for money but for the love of the game,” he explained.

“We are also going to make sure we work with the Ghana Football Association to partner TV stations to telecast colts matches,” Rev Addo added.

A documentary detailing the rich history and the current poor state of colts football in Ghana was first screened before the presentations of awards for the longest existing colts clubs, pioneer colts administrators with Kwesi Nyantakyi being awarded for his contribution to colt football.

Other award winners were ex-Black Stars players; Kwasi Appiah, C.K. Akunnor, Stephen Appiah, John Mensah, Asamoah Gyan, and Alhaji Gruzah, among others.
