The President of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation, Mr. Lartey Otu, highlighted the championship's role in preparing young athletes for the 2026 Youth Olympics in Dakar, Senegal. He congratulated all participants and winners, encouraging them to continue training to achieve their dreams.

He also acknowledged former top athletes and coaches, such as the late Shaibu Yakubu and Da Rocha, who represented Ghana at international events such as the Olympic Games.

“Let’s come together to form a strong Taekwondo fraternity,” Mr. Otu urged the regions.

He was presented with a citation by the Ghana Para Taekwondo federation for his contributions to the development of the sport.

His Excellency Park Kyongsig, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, noted the growing popularity of Taekwondo in Ghana, citing its benefits for physical strength, development, and relationship building.

He promised to support Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 Youth Olympics and expressed anticipation for the next edition of the Korean Ambassador’s Championship.

Organised by the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) and sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the inter-regional championships featured young athletes aged 13 to 17 competing in Kyorugi and Poomsae.

The competitions included five weight categories for each gender in junior and cadet Kyorugi, with athletes vying for medals, bragging rights, selection, and the overall best accolade.

James Sedoh was named the best male junior player, while Zitta Tornyevah earned the best female junior title. Jayden Nettey received the best male junior Poomsae award, and Setorme Tornyeva was named the best female junior. Other winners received hampers, medals, and certificates.
