Thousands expected to participate in 2024 Ghana Covenant Prayer Walk for peaceful elections
A massive prayer walk, dubbed the Ghana Covenant for Peaceful Election 2024, will take place in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region on Saturday, November 30, 2024. This initiative, organised by the Duamenefa Foundation, aims to promote peace ahead of Ghana's upcoming general elections.
The three kilometre walk will commence at the Aflao border market and end at Denu's Swanzy Beach. The event is scheduled to begin at 5 am and conclude at 8 am, with an anticipated turnout of over 46,000 participants. The gathering will include registered volunteers of the Duamenefa Foundation, security agencies, political party representatives, and members of the general public.

Promoting peaceful coexistence
Speaking about the event, Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, Executive President of the Duamenefa Foundation and CEO of Fafaa 100.3 FM in Dzodze, said the prayer walk is part of ongoing efforts to foster peace and unity in the country.
“This year’s covenant walk for peaceful election 2024 will feature representatives from all 16 regions of Ghana. It marks the third edition following the successful events in 2016 and 2020. The objective is to seal the numerous prayers offered by various institutions to God,” he explained.
The Duamenefa Foundation, a social intervention NGO, boasts over 46,000 registered volunteers committed to promoting harmonious coexistence across Ghanaian communities.
Support from authorities and sponsors
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ketu South, Maxwell Kofi Lugudor assured the public of the preparedness of local security forces to support the event. He commended the impact of previous editions, noting the enthusiasm and turnout from the public.
“This year’s event is expected to be even larger, and we have put adequate security measures in place to ensure its success,” he stated during an interview on Fafaa FM.
The 2024 prayer walk is sponsored by Francis Albert Nyonyo, Volta Region’s Council of State representative and CEO of the Nyonyo Foundation, and Gabriel Kwamigah Atokple, CEO of Sesi Edem and Tanko Foundation.

As preparations reach their peak, Mr. Evortepe extended an invitation to all Ghanaians to participate in the significant event. "This is a call for all well-meaning citizens to join in prayer and solidarity for peaceful elections,” he said.
