Telecel Ghana has been recognised for outstanding leadership in human resource management after winning the Best Human Resource Management in Telecommunications and Information Technology award at the 2025 HR Focus Africa Conference and Awards.
The recognition, presented by the Global HR Excellence Forum, celebrates the telecommunications company’s consistent innovation in talent management, diversity, and organisational transformation.
This year’s HR Focus Africa Conference, held at the Accra International Conference Centre, brought together business leaders and HR professionals from across the continent under the theme “Equity, Innovation & Impact: Reimagining Work and Talent in Africa’s Emerging Future.” The event explored how organisations can redefine the future of work through digital transformation while maintaining equity and human connection.
Telecel Ghana’s Human Resource Director, Rachael Appenteng, who received the award alongside her team, said the recognition reaffirmed the company’s long-standing commitment to employee growth and inclusive workplace practices.
“This recognition only affirms our entrenched commitment and consistency in putting people at the centre of HR innovation. We are proud to lead with purpose by developing a diverse talent pipeline, empowering our teams with innovative tech skills, and shaping a future where people, technology and performance grow together,” she said.
Ms Appenteng also participated in a panel discussion on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), where she called for intentional leadership to create inclusive work environments that enable every employee to thrive. She noted that organisations must learn to harness technology without compromising empathy and fairness in the workplace.
The award marks another milestone for Telecel Ghana, which has been recognised as a Top Employer for seven consecutive years. The company attributes this consistent success to progressive policies, transparent leadership, and a deep investment in workforce development.
In addition to the company’s win, Michael Awuku, a member of Telecel’s HR team, was named among the top five nominees for HR Rising Star of the Year, a recognition that highlights the firm’s commitment to nurturing young professionals and future HR leaders.
