The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has partnered Adwinsa Publications Ghana Ltd and the Ghana Library Authority to publish Ama Ghana, a children’s tourism book aimed at promoting Ghana’s tourism attractions among young people.
The initiative forms part of efforts to use literature as a tool to create awareness and generate interest in tourism, particularly among children, by introducing them to Ghana’s cultural heritage, attractions and identity.
The book will be unveiled at the 2026 Ghana International Book Fair on Friday, August 28, at the National Theatre of Ghana in Accra.
The launch, scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., is expected to bring together stakeholders in the tourism, publishing and education sectors.
Books have long played an important role in promoting tourism by transforming stories into gateways that inspire readers to explore real-life destinations, cultural sites, festivals and places associated with literary works.
It is against this background that the collaboration between the GTA CEO, Adwinsa Publications and the Ghana Library Authority seeks to use children's literature to nurture an interest in Ghana and its tourism potential among the younger generation.
The publication also aligns with the flagship Black Star Experience Programme, which seeks to position Ghana as a preferred tourism destination within the sub-region and beyond.
Through Ama Ghana, the partners hope to introduce children to the country’s rich tourism and cultural offerings while encouraging a deeper appreciation of Ghana from an early age.
The unveiling will also feature discussions on the role of literature and storytelling in tourism promotion, as well as the importance of exposing children to Ghana’s heritage and attractions through engaging and relatable content.
The Ama Ghana children’s tourism book is expected to serve as both an educational and promotional tool, using storytelling to help young readers discover and appreciate the people, places and experiences that make Ghana an attractive destination.
