Re: GSA uncovers unapproved material in mattress production

I write regarding the above-headline of a news item on page 13 of Tuesday, November 19, 2024, issue of the Daily Graphic.

As the leading daily news publication, I have relied on Daily Graphic for years and commend your work. You are a main source for most of us despite social media and the presence of many online platforms readily available.

General health, is, in my opinion, on a decline because of diverse reasons. One main cause is what we eat, how we live and our surroundings. People are now putting personal gain before conscience so blatantly and it is sad and appalling, to put it lightly.

Your article is in order, but you should have made readers know the type of mattresses in question.

I can bet that even as this publication went out, the company’s mattresses are still being sold and some people will unknowingly be buying them.

Can you please better serve us by giving us more information about the company manufacturing these mattresses to help society better?

Naming and shaming, when practised professionally, do more good than harm. I will not be surprised if the manufacturers in question are foreigners. Sadly, they will not do such in their home countries because they will face consequences. Here, they can, and we, Ghanaians, will support them.

Even if it is a local manufacturer of whatever status they are, they must not put any Ghanaian in the situation of such potential health risks because of their greed.

The Ghanaian society is becoming discerning. However, Daily Graphic, please help us better by publishing the name of the company that is producing mattresses with unapproved materials.

That would also ensure that others doing the same thing become mindful of the consequences.

Our regulatory agencies have to step up and create the Ghana of our aspirations for all.
