    In a 5-2 majority decision on Tuesday [Nov 12, 2024], the apex court upheld a suit by the Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, which sought a constitutional interpretation of Article 97 (1) (g) and (h) of the Constitution.

    The Bank of Ghana has suspended the forex trading license of the Consolidated Bank of Ghana (CBG) for a period of one month, beginning November 26, 2024.

    The licence will be restored at the end of the one-month suspension period once the Bank of Ghana is satisfied that CBG has instituted effective controls to ensure strict adherence to the foreign exchange market regulations.

    The President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Frank Serebour has expressed concern over what he described as dwindling professionalism in the health sector in recent times, saying some health personnel are involved in alcoholism, drug misuse and abuse.

    “There has also been reported cases of sexual harassment perpetuated by health workers,” he added.

    Dr Serebour made the remarks at the just-ended 66th Annual General Conference of the GMA at Sokode-Lokoe in the Volta Region.

    This decision, announced by EC Chairperson, Mrs Jean Mensa during an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday (November 12), aims to ensure the integrity and smooth progression of the electoral process.

    The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has been disqualified from the 2024 presidential election.The printing of presidential ballot papers will now proceed without any changes. This means the positions of the presidential candidates will not change. 

    What this means is that, Akua Donkor's image, party symbol will continue to be on the ballot paper at the third position.

    But all ballots cast in her name will be annulled and will not count.
