Czech Embassy holds Documentary Film Festival ahead of musical concert
The Czech Republic celebrates its national holiday, Czech independence Day, on October 28. The day is of significant historical and cultural importance to the nation.

As part of activities to mark this year’s event in Ghana, the Czech Embassy held a Documentary Film Festival at the Silverbird Cinemas, Accra.
The screening, held on Tuesday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 9, featured four documentary films on some influential personalities from the country.
On the first night, ‘Jan Koller - the story of an ordinary boy’ which documents the life of the former Czech football player and all-time top scorer for the Czech Republic national team, and “Franz Kafka - Lost in Fame”, a story on the novelist and writer, were screened.
On the second night, guests watched ‘Věra 68’, a film on the life story of an Olympic champion,Věra Čáslavská, and ‘Havel Speaking, Can You Hear Me?’, a documentary on the last years of a former Czech President and playwright, Václav Havel's life were screened.
In an interview with The Mirror, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy, Mr Matěj Denk, said the film festival will be followed by a musical concert at the National Theatre in Accra on Wednesday, October 16.
He said the events were to showcase the best of Czech culture.
The free-to-attend musical concert, he explained, would feature a collaboration between music director and conductor Jan Pellant from Czech Republic and the Ghana Symphony Orchestra.
The event starts at 7 p.m.
