New Mega Growth packaging, Relax Right Campaign launched
In a bid to promote proper hair care, Weave Ghana Limited, producers of Darling and Mega Growth hair products have introduced a new packaging for its Mega Growth brand and launched the “Relax Right” campaign.
Underlining its commitment to making products tailored for the African woman’s hair, the new packaging, now easier to read, also features African models, replacing previous designs that showed more foreign models.
The launch event was held on March 27, 2025, at the Osu Presbyterian Hall in Accra and in collaboration with the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA).
In attendance were members from the various regional units of GHABA.
Addressing The Mirror, the Marketing Lead for Weave Ghana Limited, Angela Ayishetu Baba, said this change reflected the brand’s focus on its main consumers.
“As a leading brand in Africa, we want our products to connect with African women. The new package is clear and easy to read. We have also introduced a twin-pack with a hair relaxer and free neutralising shampoo for convenience,” she said.
Focus on proper hair relaxing
Ms Baba also explained the “Relax Right” campaign, noting that it aimed to educate hairdressers on safe relaxer use in order to prevent hair damage and scalp burns.
“Through this campaign, Weave Ghana Limited will work with the hairdressers’ association to conduct training workshops across Ghana, equipping hairdressers with the knowledge and tools necessary to provide safer and more effective hair treatments,” she added.
The hairdressers welcomed the initiative, acknowledging that their business, built on skills and knowledge, requires ongoing training to stay sharp and updated.
A representative from GHABA, Bernice Asantewaa Asante, admonished members take part in training sessions and the National Vocational Training Institute proficiency exams to stay updated.
