Awutu Senya Assembly inaugurates four projects

The Awutu Senya District Assembly has inaugurated four major projects towards the development of the district.

They are a new police station at Awutu Bontrase, a circuit court constructed with funds from the District Assemblies Common Fund, a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded multi-purpose district education office complex, and a rural technology facility (RTF) to train the youth to acquire vocational and technical skills all at Awutu Beraku, the district capital.

 

 

Durbar

Addressing a durbar after the inauguration of the projects, Mr Akwasi Oppong Fosu, a Minister of State at the Presidency, said the government through the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and with support from donor partners was committed to bringing development to the doorstep of Ghanaians.

He therefore called on the people to rally behind the government as it worked towards improving the living conditions of the people.

 

 

MP

The Member of Parliament for the area, Madam Hannah Serwaa Tetteh,  said the district was growing at a fast rate and therefore needed additional police stations to control crime and a court to help in the adjudication of cases.

She stated that the RTF project undertaken by the Ministry of Trade and Industry was the second in the region and had the objective to provide technical and vocational training to the youth to improve on their standard of living.

“The RTF project would serve as an internship centre for technical and vocational students to embark upon practical attachment which would enable such students to broaden their scope of knowledge to set up their own firms after school,” she indicated.

Ms Tetteh who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, explained that the government was executing such projects to change the face of the district and to attract a lot of investments into the area to propel its growth.

She pledged her continuous commitment in championing the development of the district since it was the surest way to better the lot of the people.

 

 

Commendation

The Central Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Mr Kwame Ofori, commended the government for its continuous investment in the education sector in the area.

He called on MMDAs to liaise with donor partners to provide beffiting office accommodation for directorates of education across the country to improve their efficiency.

Mr Ofori further urged the assembly to collaborate effectively with the GES towards proper maintenance of the facility.

The Central Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Ransford Ninsin, expressed gratitude to the MP for her resolve to construct more police stations in the district to improve security.

He said the visibility policy of the police would only be achieved when more police stations were built to increase the number of police personnel in the district.

The DCOP therefore entreated chiefs in the area to release lands to facilitate the construction of more police stations.

The Awutu Senya District Chief Executive, Mr Sampson Abbey Armah, announced that about 35 projects were currently at various stages of completion in the district.
