Bono: 3 Police officers seen in video collecting bribes from motorists identified and interdicted
The Bono Regional Police Command has initiated an investigation into a video circulating on social media that shows some police officers allegedly taking money from motorists.
The officers involved have been identified and interdicted to allow for a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.
In a press statement, the Police Command in the region assured the public of its commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
Graphic Online's Biiya Mukusah Ali, reports from Sunyani that the three police officers are stationed at Sampa in the Jaman North District in the Bono Region.
The police statement, signed by the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, explained that the three officers (names withheld) were seen in a video circulating on social media suggesting that they were taking money from motorists.
Titled "Police interdict officers caught in alleged bribery video", the statement said the officers involved, have been interdicted to allow thorough and impartial investigation into the alleged bribery incident.
"The officers involved have been identified and interdicted to allow a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident.
"The Bono Regional Police Command has initiated an investigation into a video circulating on social media that shows some police officers allegedly taking money from motorists," the statement said.
In a telephone conversation, Chief Inspector Akeelah said "we are using the internal disciplinary procedures through the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to investigate the matter".
The statement further assured the public of police commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability among its personnel.
