A document making the rounds indicates that the contract for the rebranding was awarded to Smarttys Management and Productions, a movie and event management house, owned and managed by Selassie Ibrahim, an actress and TV personality.

The rebranding of the buses, numbering 116, involved the painting and embossment of the pictures of President John Mahama and former heads of state.

According to the 2015 Annual Report on Petroleum Funds, the rebranding cost GH¢31,000 each.

A pro-forma invoice available to Graphiconline indicates that material cost for spraying each bus cost GH¢14, 210 while material cost for eight one-vision sticker cost GH¢10,000 at a unit price of GH¢1,250. It also indicated that the cost for SAV coated sticker cost GH¢1,200.

The pro-forma invoice also revealed that the cost of spraying a bus each cost GH¢3,000 while the labour cost for the stickers cost GH¢2,000.

The cost of rebranding of the buses has raised controversy in Parliament following the approval of GhȻ126, 317, 102 for the Ministry of Transport for the 2016 financial year.

The Minority Leader, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu questioned the rationale for rebranding the buses at such a cost, noting that, it was unacceptable and a waste of national resources.
