Twenty-five health facilities in the Amansie South District have each received medical equipment to support quality healthcare delivery.
The items, valued at GH¢320,000, included delivery beds, thermometer guns, blood pressure machines, wheelchairs, drip stands, stretchers, baby scales, ward screens and television sets.
The Assembly Member for Manso Takorase, Dominic Bonsu, who made the donation, said the gesture was to improve healthcare efficiency, support safe delivery and enhance patient comfort in health centres across the Amansie South District.
It adds to a series of community development initiatives undertaken by Mr Bonsu, who has, over the years, supported educational institutions, sanitation drives and youth empowerment programmes in the Amansie South District.
Shared responsibility
Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony at Manso Takorase, Mr Bonsu said the initiative stemmed from his desire to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and ensure that medical facilities in rural communities were adequately equipped to serve residents.
He explained that improving healthcare services should not solely rely on the government, but should involve collective action from individuals, communities, and private organisations.
“Healthcare is a shared responsibility. The government alone cannot provide everything needed in our health facilities, so we must all play our part.
“It is my hope that this support will help improve health outcomes in our district and ensure that our people receive the care they deserve,” he stated.
The assembly member expressed his appreciation to healthcare professionals in the district for their dedication, especially in deprived communities and encouraged them to continue serving with commitment despite the challenges.
Timely support
Receiving the equipment, the District Director of Health Services, Ofosu Kwabi Nasas, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary facilities.
He said the donation was timely, given that many health centres were struggling with inadequate logistics and equipment, which affected their ability to provide prompt and efficient medical care.
“This support has come at the right time. Many of our facilities have been operating under severe constraints and this donation will go a long way to improve service delivery and patient comfort,” Mr Nasas said.
The District Planning Officer, Yaw Opoku, commended Mr Bonsu for his description as a practical demonstration of leadership and community commitment.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, a community leader, Kwaku Abonɛɛ, lauded the assembly member for his consistent commitment to the welfare of his constituents and his efforts to enhance public healthcare services.
He called on other well-meaning individuals to emulate his example by contributing to the development of critical sectors such as health and education.
