Leading Insurance broker, Edward Mensah, Wood & Associates Ltd, has donated some medical equipment to the Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital to improve effective health care.
The equipment, which included three patient monitors and two oxygen concentrators, was to boost the hospital’s capacity to track patients’ vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels, and to provide a continuous supply of enriched air to patients with breathing difficulties.
The gesture formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility aimed at enhancing the hospital's ability to provide timely and effective care for children in need.
Commitment
The Managing Director of Edward Mensah, Wood & Associates Ltd, Yasmin Essifie Mensah, leading a delegation to make the presentation at the hospital, said the gesture reflected the company’s long-standing commitment to giving back to society.
Ms Mensah said the company had, over the years, supported several health initiatives and would continue to do so as part of its contribution to national development.
“It’s still the old story. God blesses us and we give back to society,” she said.
Gratitude
The Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Maame Yaa Nyarko, expressed gratitude to the company for the continuous support, as the equipment would go a long way to improve care delivery.
She explained that the patient monitors were essential for tracking the vital signs of very sick children, providing continuous readings and alerting medical staff when values were out of the normal range.
Dr Nyarko also highlighted the importance of the oxygen concentrators, saying, “It takes atmospheric oxygen and concentrates it so we can give it to the patient.
Sometimes all our oxygen points are in use, but with the concentrator, we can still provide oxygen to a child in need.”
She acknowledged the company’s long-term partnership with the hospital, as they had previously adopted the hospital’s high-dependency unit and renovated the recovery ward for post-surgery patients.
“They have supported us in so many ways, and we are very grateful. Their donations are making a real difference in the lives of the children who come here,” she said.
