
Muslim Caucus in Parliament holds 14th Annual Night of Power
The Muslim Caucus in Parliament has held its 14th Annual Night of Power, an event that brings together lawmakers, diplomats, and other distinguished guests to offer prayers for the nation.
The event held at the Foyer of the Chamber of Parliament last Friday (March 21, 2025) night, was a moment of thanksgiving to God and promotion of peace and unity in the country following last year’s successful election and peaceful transition.
It was under the theme: “If you are grateful more shall be added unto you (Quran 14:7)”. The event also welcomed members of the Christian Caucus in Parliament, delegation from the Judiciary and the Executive.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including, the First Deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafor who represented Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin; the Representative of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Armiyawo Shaibu; the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability, Issifu Seidu; and the Member of Parliament of Ho West, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah who represented the Christian Caucus in Parliament.
Religious tolerance
The First Deputy Speaker, in a speech delivered on behalf of the Speaker of the Parliament, expressed gratitude and support for the Muslim community as they observe the holy month of Ramadan.
The Speaker emphasised the importance of fasting as a means of communicating with God and seeking answers to prayers. He also highlighted the theme of the 14th annual Night of Power, resonated with his personal experiences and the nation's blessings, including its natural resources, human talents, and democratic governance.
As a Christian, the Speaker demonstrated his commitment to religious tolerance and unity, promoting the idea that fostering religious harmony is a moral responsibility and a duty to the country and humanity.
Speaker Bagbin assured the Muslim community of his continued support and wished them a successful end to Ramadan and a blessed Eid Mubarak.
Gratitude
In an address as the Chairman of the occasion, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Bole Bamboi, Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, emphasised the importance of gratitude and divine blessings.
Mr Sulemana reflected on Ghana's peaceful presidential and parliamentary elections last year, attributing the success to the nation's collective prayers for divine intervention.
He stressed that other countries faced challenges during their elections, making Ghana's peaceful transition even more remarkable.
As Muslims, Sulemana emphasized the need to express heartfelt gratitude to Allah for this blessing.
The MP also acknowledged the challenges facing Ghana and the need for divine guidance. He led prayers for unity, harmony, and wisdom among Ghanaians, regardless of their religious or political affiliations.
Mr Sulemana, reaffirmed the caucus's commitment to serving the country with education and sincerity.
He urged all Ghanaians to open their hearts to the divine blessings, forgiveness, guidance, and mercy from Allah as well as for peace, prosperity, and unity to prevail in the country.
