The Supreme Court of Ghana has dismissed an application from Future Global Resources Ltd. (FGR) and Blue Gold Bogoso Prestea Limited, effectively ending their legal challenge to reclaim the Bogoso-Prestea Mine.
The ruling, delivered on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, solidifies Heath Goldfields Ltd.'s legal ownership of the asset.
A five-member panel of the Supreme Court, presided over by Justice Amadu Tanko JSC, found the application for certiorari to be without legal merit.
The applicants had sought to quash a High Court ruling from March 20, 2025 and compel that court to hear their case for judicial review.
In a ruling, the Court stated, "Having reviewed all the processes filed, we do not think this application has any merit in law. We consequently do not invite the Interested parties to respond. The application is accordingly dismissed."
The legal dispute originated in September 2024 when the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources terminated the mining rights of FGR and Blue Gold and approved their transfer to Heath Goldfields Ltd. The companies' initial attempt to challenge this decision and block the transfer was dismissed by the High Court in March 2025 as "incompetent and improperly grounded."
In a press release issued following the Supreme Court's decision, Heath Goldfields Ltd. described the dismissed application as "unmeritorious" and said the ruling affirms "the legal soundness of the processes" behind its acquisition.
The company further stated it "remains focused on responsibly operating the Bogoso-Prestea Mine, supporting national economic development, investing in host communities and engaging stakeholders with transparency and integrity."
